Nattokinase Cautions Nattokinase has been safely used by the Japanese
people for many centuries. It is safe for all ages and there appears
to be no limit to the amount that can be safely ingested. However,
due to its potent clot busting properties, people who suffer from
bleeding disorders, such as haemophiliacs, should not take
Nattokinase. Those with ongoing bleeding problems, such as ulcers or
recent surgery, should also stay away from Nattokinase. Those who
have suffered from intracranial bleeding, or who have nueral surgery
or ischemic stroke in the last six months should not take
Nattokinase. People with extremely high, uncontrolled blood pressure
(systolic blood pressure greater than 200 mmHg or diastolic pressure
greater than 110 mmHg) should not take Nattokinase unless under
strict medical supervision. Nattokinase should not be taken by
persons taking “blood thinning” drugs (anticoagulants, such as
aspirin or warfarin [Coumadin®]); As there have been to date no
studies showing Nattokinase’s ability to pass throiugh breast milk,
pregnant or nursing mothers should consult their physician before
using Nattokinase. It is interesting to note, however, that Nattō
has been traditionally served to pregnant women in Japan to ensure a
healthy newborn. | |
